Played this for the first time and got very frustrated, I still don't understand it at all. It just seems like I'm slapping down cards and hoping the strength number of mind is higher... That seems way too simplistic and frankly kind of dumb, but I'm really stoned and am probably missing the point

I didnt like it at first because to me it was just too simple, then i forced mysepf to play and it aint bad, i just dont like that there is barely any strategy, most of it is just bringing hero cards and any other high power cards, strategy vomes after

I've had this game for seven years, and to this day, I've never managed to win a game of Gwent.

If the logic is to win two rounds and save your best cards for last why not always just pass/forfeit the first round without playing any cards? This is what I do and can't seem to lose, but is this a dirty tactic? Thanks and God bless ✌️

Honestly it's such a relief to read the comments. I'm on my first ever playthrough of Witcher and I ignored Gwent for the longest time and finally realized that learning to play it can help me quite a bit. Haven't enjoyed playing it because I straight up suck at it. So this video definitely helps.

What i dont get is why do you have to pick 22 cards to start the game but you can only play 10 cards on the deck.

It’s a battle of who has the most unit cards left at the end. Because if you played all your unit cards in round one you can’t fight the next 2 rounds

The way I learned how to play is when I almost gave up the whole card game and I fought the bloody baron, I just emulated his strategy of using spies

You meet Vaughn in the Fight for Sanctuary DLC and he does talk like that so it's at least 75% true.

Man im currently on my 3rd playthrough and i REALLY wanna be good at Gwent this time... but its confusing when u never actually taken the time to learn 😭😭

still fucking hard even when you know how to play. The problem is I think it's DEFINITELY p2w. I haven't bought any cards so even though I'm on the easiest gwent difficulty, it's almost impossible to win any match besides the first person you meet to play it with. Since there's no energy or resource cards, it's basically just fill your deck with the biggest number and the best special abilities. The weather cards add a little strategy, but that especially along with all the other cards still requires a bit of luck getting a decent additional draw; unless of course you have a maxed out end game deck. Neat idea for what it is though. This was definitely a better tutorial than the game gives you.
